Fernando Alonso has reportedly been told by McLaren senior officials that he can lave if he wants too.
This comes days after a string of incidents over the Hungarian GP weekend that have seen Hamilton and Alonso have a relationship breakdown that could seriously damage the team in the long term and even their title chances.
The press have been speculating that Alonso would leave the Woking based team, Alonso saying he was dissatisfied with conditions has fuelled these rumours even more.
But now, the harsh truth would seem that Ron Dennis is prepared for the Spanish World Champion to make his departure.
“Fernando Alonso has been informed by Ron Dennis, the McLaren Mercedes team principal, that he can leave at the end of this season,” The Times reported today,
“My understanding is that he’s been told he can go because they’re so fed up with him,” a senior official who wished not to be named informed me
”Ron is just very p***ed off with both of them.”
”We’re certain that he wants to keep wonderboy [Lewis Hamilton] instead of Nando [Fernando Alonso]” He finished.
Alonso has also been very uncommittal to McLaren “I don’t know, I don’t know.” he said on Monday evening. Apparantly, the Alonso Crew are desperate for a return to Renault, and an insider says Fernando is too.
As to where the world champion goes, the newspaper wishes not to greatly speculate, especially being a broadsheet not a red-top rag. However, that’s what im here for and you want the juicy bit! Alonso is being connected, yes you’ve got it, to McLaren’s arch rivals Ferrari! Alonso would join the team, and replace Felipe Massa is what we at F1Fanatics believe. If he decides to snub the Scuderia then he will either go to Renault to replace Giancarlo Fisichella, or even to BMW Sauber.
Don’t say we told you so!
