The future of Super Aguri Formula One team is in doubt tonight as crisis talks take place between senior members of the young Japanese team.
They were expected to be celebrating securing the future of the team today, as talks with Magma Group who were buying the team on behalf of a group of welathy Dubai investors were set to finish after being rubber stamped by Honda’s senior board in Japan.
However Magma informed Aguri Suzuki that they no longer wanted the team.
This has led to more doubts being cast, as they struggle to find the finances with lacking sponsors.
The statement from Super Aguri read:
“Super Aguri F1 Team confirms that it has been informed by Magma Group, the potential purchasers of the team, that its investors no longer wish to fund the intended acquisition.
“It is with deep regret that Aguri Suzuki is now forced to consider the future of the team, however negotiations with other parties continue.”
