Frentzen Confirmed At Aston For 24h

29 04 2008

Heinz Harald Frentzen, the former F1 driver has been confirmed at the Aston Martin Gulf team for the 24h Le Mans.

The German, who had a prolific F1 career that saw him race for Williams, Sauber and Jordan, has raced endurance races before.  He took to La Sarthe in 1992 in a Lola Judd.

As for 2008 he will be in car 007, partnered by Karl Wendlinger and Andrea Piccini.

“I’ve only driven at Le Mans once, 16 years ago, so it’s a great pleasure to come back to such a famous race - especially with a prestigious team like Aston Martin, which has formed part of the history of motorsport,” said the 40-year-old German, who had tested for Aston at Paul Ricard in March.

“The circuit is obviously very demanding, but the biggest challenge for us will be to stay fully focussed and concentrated over the course of the whole 24 hours.”

Good luck to him, and Aston Martin in the event, which i know many of you are looking forward to :)
