Mark Webber has told reporters in Istanbul that he is actively seeking and discussing a contract for the future with his current team, Red Bull Racing.
The Australian joined the team in 2007, and into his second season he feels now that progress is being made and in the mad world of F1 driver changes, he wants to have a secured seat in the team.
Webber scored only 10 points in 2007, with many problems hindering him. However, just 4 rounds into 2008 he has scored 8 points and is looking increasingly cmfortable, and fast in the Adrian Newey designed car.
“We are talking now,” Webber told reporters at Istanbul. “I am free next year, but I am massively keen to stay here. I hope to stay here.
“What I love about this team is that I am employed to drive the car, and if I have to do a track day or a PR day then I would rather skip it – rather than go and talk to people that don’t want to see me and I don’t want to see them. That is great.”
