John Surtees has been honoured by the Queen of England in her birthday celebration awards.
The great man of both Motorcycling and Motorsport has been awarded with an OBE.
He is the only man to ever win both Motorcycling’s top title and the Formula One World Championship. Surtees was a great Ferrari driver before trying his hand with his own team. These days he is found helping out at many events, and supporting his grand-son Henry Surtees who is getting into racing at lower forumlas.
Elsewhere in motorsport Andry Priaulx, the BMW WTCC driver and one time tester of a Williams F1 Car was honoured with an MBE.
He said today; “It is quite a surprise to receive an envelope with the royal logo on. I was really taken aback and very honoured to read they wanted to bestow the MBE on me.”
