Red Bull boss and part owner of the Scuderia Toro Rosso team Dietrich Mateschitz has claimed that Sebastien Buemi is on the verge of getting a race seat with the team.
The young Swiss driver has been a tester for both Toro Rosso and Red Bull Racing, alongside driving in series like F3 Euroseries.
It looks likely that the other seat will be a contest between Sebastien Bourdais and Takuma Sato.
“One will very likely be Buemi,” Mateschitz told Autosport.
“The line-up will be confirmed before the last test in December.”
That last test is the 15th-17th December at Jerez.
