Additional Testing Circuits
These are images of additional test circuits that will be used by the various F1 teams throughout the season. Many of the race circuits are used too, but these are tracks that aren’t race circuits but get used aswell!
Fiorano, Italy
Fiorano is Ferrari’s private testing circuit right next to their factory in Maranello Italy. Used by F1 cars and Road cars alike the track was designed to emulate the best corners from the best race circuits in the world!
Jerez, Spain
Jerez is a very popular testing circuit used by all of the teams at least once during the year! Jerez was formerly a race circuit, and has recently undergone some expansion and now has a large bridge across the start finish straight similar to that of Shanghai Circuit.
Mugello, Italy
Mugello is another track owner by Ferrari and is a challenging long circuit with some twisty corners and a long main straight over a kilometre in length. Ferrari and Toro Rosso use this circuit frequently, Minardi formerly. It is used for DTM and Moto GP as well.
Paul Ricard, France
Paul Ricard is a well known and used puire test circuit in France. It is owned by F1 Supremo Bernie Ecclestone and his careful hand and investment has made Paul Ricard one of the most advanced circuit in the world. The pained lines you see on the picture are an advanced gravel which slows the car dramatically and in a controlled fashion meaning fewer major crashes. Paul Ricard starred in Toyota’s pre-season “Show Off” Video too!
Valencia, Spain
Valencia Circuit in Spain is a beautifully flowing track used for occasional testing. Despite there being a GP in Valencia this year this track will not be used. Some teams like Valencia, other do not and often don’t test here at all. Used for Motorbike racing primarily.
Vallelunga, Italy
Vallelunga is a test track in the Lazio region of Italy. Owned by the Automobile Club D’Italia, in 2004 the track underwent extensive modification and is now a homoglated F1 test track. Use has been slow to begin, but in 2007 pre-season a lot of teams including Ferrari and McLaren tested here.
Menorca Aerodrome
Menorca is a new track which has just begun being used by F1 Teams. Being completely straight it is perfect for drivers and teams to test straightline and top speeds. McLaren and Honda F1 have both tested here now.
