Piquet Not Secured For 2009 With Renault
Flavio Briatore has done nothing to help young Nelson Piquet’s career at Renault from sliding off the brink, as he told reporters in Japan that hios seat was not secure.
Piquet was widely tipped to be a top young start this season but has only performed on a handful of occassions, in a car which can clearly win. He has made many, many mistakes and some of his good performances have just been luck.
Briatore wants 2 good drivers, and is going all out to keep Fernando Alonso.
Pundits tip Lucas di Grassi to take over from Piquet who could be heading to Scuderia Toro Rosso as part of a Renault engine deal.
When asked if Piquet’s performance in Japan had saved his future, Briatore said: “No, no. We’ve said we’ll do everything at the end of the year. One single race doesn’t change our ideas. At the end of the season, we’ll look at what we’re going to do.”
“It’s normal that he starts doing so [finishing in the points],” he added.
