Petrobras Pressuring Honda For Brazilian Driver
Petrobras, the Brazilian oil company which is switching from sponsoring Williams to become title sponsor with Honda from 2009 is reportedly pressuring Honda into employing a young Brazilian driver if Fernando Alonso decides not to drive with them next season.
That young driver is likely to be Bruno Senna, the talented nephew of the multiple world champion Ayrton has impressed in all series of racing so far, and would love to drive in F1 next season.
Nelson Piquet Jr. who has not had his automatic contract option renewed by Renault is in line, after an unconvincing season.
However, Rubens Barrichello is appealing to Petrobras and Honda claiming that it will be necessary next season to have a driver with much experience. He is also going to bring his weight down by 8kg to match Jenson Button is he is successful ins ecuring a drive in order to become much fitter for racing.
“Next year, experience is going to be essential,” Barrichello, referring to the sweeping rules changes for 2009, is quoted as saying by Auto Motor und Sport.
