Toyota Consider Quitting Over Single Engine Proposal
Toyota would consider quitting F1 if a single engine construction is brought into F1 in 2010, their president John Howett told media today.
The Japanese team spend the most out of any F1 team in the sport, and since 2002 have pumped a fair amount of money into the sport as a whole. Without constructing their own engine (also used by Williams) they see little point in being in F1.
Max Mosley has put out a tender for a single manufacturer to create all the engines, likely candidates are Ferrari and Renault (possibly under the Mechachrome banner).
“For Toyota it would be a reason to leave Formula One,” Howett is quoted as saying by sport1.de.
