Euro Disney Pulls Plug On F1 Race
Euro Disney have pulled out of the proposed new venue for the French Grand Prix.
The idea was brought about by Alain Prost with backers, and they were going to build a new F1 venue on land provided by Euro Disney, who in turn got a share of revenue and profits. The circuit would have been up to F1 standard, and been just 30 minutes from Paris.
It was to take over from Magny Cours in 2010, after much criticism of that circuit.
Bernie Ecclestone was 100% behind the project, and it appeared Prost had helped raise 60million Euros, but residents nearby complained and Euro Disney have decided it is too much given the current economic slowdown.
The number of interested parties in hosting the French Grand Prix is diminishing fast, and AFP suggested that there is unlikely to be a French race before 2011.
