Lenovo Dump Williams For McLaren

Lenovo Computer comapny are about to announce that they are discontinuing their sponsorship of the Williams F1 Team and are switching to sponsor the McLaren team.

McLaren, whose driver Lewis Hamilton is the current champion, are heavily sponsored by Vodafone and Santander, and this deal is likely to include no logos on the actual car.  Santander, mentioned previously, are going to leave McLaren to sponsor Ferrari in 2010 though.

Lenovo only started sponsoring Williams two seasons ago, and with another major sponsor RBS in financial difficulty, they may well leave too – putting independent team Williams in jepoardy.  Petrobras have also abandoned sponsorship, as they had a deal with Honda for title sponsorship in 2009, but with Honda now out of F1 it is uncertain whether the deal will continue to new owners or not.

However, Sir Frank Williams announced earlier in the week that Allianz, Philips, AT&T and Oris were all remaning as sponsors for 2009.
