Ferrari and Magnetti Marelli Targetting Australia For KERS

Ferrari’s technical chief Aldo Costa, and their partner company Magnetti Marelli have confirmed that their KERS system will make no outing in 2008, and will only be seen on the 2009 car onwards.

Costa, who designed the 2007 championship winning car and the 2008 constructor champion car is admitting that Ferrari want a perfect system which is 100% reliable, and also one which affects the handling of the car in no adverse fashion.

“It has to be compact and lightweight, affecting the handling of the car as little as possible,” he told Italy’s La Gazzetta dello Sport.

It is believed an electric motor is all that is left for the company behind the system Magnetti Marelli to fix before it can be installed.

Ferrari spokesman Luca Colajanni confirmed: “We will begin testing KERS with our new car.”
