Sato In Talks Over Toro Rosso Reserve Role

Takuma Sato has been alleged to be in talks with the Scuderia Toro Rosso team about becoming their official 3rd and reserve driver.

The Japanese was unfortunate to miss out on a race seat with the Toro Rosso team, a seat that went to Frenchman Sebastien Bourdais.

This deal would keep Sato in the loop of F1, and also give him the opportunity to test and deputise for either Bourdais or Sebastien Buemi should he need to for a race weekend.  Rumour has it that the deal would also make him the reserve driver at Red Bull Racing too, a position widely regarded to be held by David Coulthard.

“He has a good reputation in Japan,” said Red Bull boss Dietrich Mateschitz.

“He could work with us very well”
