Alonso And Renault Consider Dropping KERS For China
Fernando Alonso has told a Spanish newspaper that he and his Renault team are considering dropping the KERS system for the forthcoming Chinese Grand Prix in two weeks time.
The Spaniard reckoned that it is not worth the trouble for the performance gains, in what he described as a pretty poor car as it was.
Scuderia Ferrari have been having some issues with their KERS system, leaving Kimi Raikkonen in a cockpit full of smoke when the batteries used for storing the power set on fire during Free Practice in Malaysia.
“Right now we are not where we want to be overall and we have to change this. Soon it is necessary to analyse KERS or not KERS,” he said.
“Here (in Malaysia) it was worth the trouble, whereas in Australia I do not know whether it was or not. We will go to China knowing more about it,” added Alonso.
