Yoong Confirmed In Lotus Non Driving Role

Former F1 driver Alex Yoong has been confirmed to a track side role with the new Lotus F1 Team it was confirmed today.

Yoong, who competed with little success in F1 with Minardi, will head up the Asian arm of the Lotus teams driver development programme.  He is said to be very excited about working with the team, which has majority backing from his homeland of Malaysia.

Formula 3 team principal Nino Judge will be in charge of the European part of the development programme, while Mia Sharizman Ismail will be head of Asian operations.

Lotus F1 CEO Riad Asmat said: “The young driver development scheme will play a key role in finding and developing future Malaysian drivers and it is great that Litespeed can play such an important role in that process.

“There is a lot of raw motorsport talent in Malaysia and as the country’s national F1 team, it is our responsibility to bring that to the fore.”
