PM Praises Button And Silverstone Efforts

The Prime Minister of Great Britain, Gordon Brown has praised Jenson Button and the efforts of the people behind Silverstone in a special awards ceremony today.

Brown, a man under intense pressure, took time out to give an award to Jenson Button at the annual BRDC awards ceremony.  Brown praised his efforts with the BrawnGP team, and also in becoming a great ambassador for the sport.

“We have a world champion in whom we have so much pride, who fought back against all the odds, who achieved something when some people thought at the beginning of the season it was impossible: Jenson, the whole country is proud of you,” said Brown.

“You are a brilliant ambassador for British sport.”

He also took the time to praise the people who masterminded Silverstone regaining the British Grand Prix for the next 17 years.
