Campos Change Name To Hispania Race Team
Campos Meta have officially changed their operating name to HRT F1 – Hispania Racing Team F1 today as new owner Jose Ramon Carabante completes his take-over of the team from its former owners.
Carabante has appointed Colin Kolles as the team principal of the outfit, which ahs yet to launch its car or test despite the start of the season being a handful of days away.
The Spanish based outfit HRT are set to confirm Bruno Senna, who signed some months ago with Campos alongside him confirmation that Karun Chandhok gets a race seat and that USF1 refugee Jose Maria Lopez will land the test driver role.
Sponsors are unknown but likely to be mostly funded by Carabante and deals through all of the drivers, a launch is expected any time soon but little running is possible ahead of Bahrain.
“The new team name signifies a new birth for our Formula 1 ambitions and highlights the incredible effort that is going on behind the scenes to ensure we make a successful debut in Bahrain on 14 March,” said Kolles.
“While we are a new team in the paddock, we will be very proud to stand alongside such legendary names as Ferrari, McLaren, Williams and Lotus, as we hope to build our own reputation in the coming years.”
